ITMO University’s International Days were held on June 2-4, 2015 in Saint Petersburg. The event comprised a tour of the University, open discussions on international development, roundtable sessions devoted to joint research, educational programs and enhancement of international cooperation.
The opening ceremony took place on June 2 at one of the ITMO’s campuses located at 14 Birzhevaya linia. Partners from Finland (Aalto University, LUT, Saimaa University of Applied Sciences, KYAMK), Germany (TU Bergakademie Freiberg, TU Ilmenau), France (ParisTech), Estonia (TUT) and other countries attended the event.
The most sensitive matters in question were devoted to the efficient partnership modes between foreign universities and ITMO University. The main items on the agenda were international student recruitment and reciprocal quality control of educational services.
In particular, the participants discussed the challenges existing in terms of academic exchange programs, aspects that can negatively influence the two-way flow, and solutions that could be applied. Specific attention was paid to quality assurance of education as all the stakeholders have to make sure that education provided by a partner meets all the requirements.
The main idea of the event was to provide ITMO students, academia, administrators and the international partners with an opportunity to collaborate and identify research areas, educational programs and projects of mutual interest.
